A new start...

Its been over a year since I have done any updates. I've been going through a lot of life changes all in my personal life. Its funny how quickly things seem to be taken away from you and you're left to figure out life for yourself. All of this has been for the most part a positive life experience for me and I am proud to say I have grown quite a bit. I still feel I have a lot of things to figure out but I'm trying to take it one day at a time. I just have to keep in mind, nothing "perfect" last forever but every end comes a great new beginning.
I can say I've never quite felt more like myself than in the past 14 months. The things I have experienced where out of my comfort zone and if you told me 2 years ago what I would have been trying I would have laughed at you. Hopefully I will be able to make more posts in the future, but I make no promises! Anything specific you'd like me to post about just let me know in the comments.... til next time!

Black Heart Beauty Cosmetics

Before I begin my review, I just wanted to say that a lot has changed. I haven't had much time to blog in a very long time. My beauty blog VooDoo Dolly hasn't been updated in a year or two. While I still think make up is fun, I work with make up so I'd rather be doing something else. I have decided to post some beauty posts here so I don't feel like I'm just committed to beauty by posting on the other blog. Hope you enjoy!

I popped in and out of Hot Topic every now and then. Its not like it used to be I can tell you that. Of course, I always have a look at the makeup. I believe this brand is only available at hot topic and maybe their online store. I have 3 products from them, a lipgloss and 2 lipsticks.

First off, I hate the packaging. The cap always falls off and the lipstick case is made so that it sticks up, so when the cap falls off in your purse, the colour gets everywhere. Now getting that out of the way, I'll talk about the colours.

The gloss I have is a deep purple, the name of it was on the plastic packaging so I have no idea of the shade name. The colour is a nice deep shade of purple, the consistency is thin and lasting power... is very minimal. I would never wear this alone, only on top of a lipstick. It has a weird minty taste that is somewhat synthetic. I don't think I would buy this again.

The first lipstick I purchased is called Melodrama. Its a nice deep purple shade (its deeper and more purple in person than in the photo). The texture is creamy and soft but the pigmentation is just okay. I have to swipe a good 2-3 layers of it to cover my pigmented lips. Its still a very lovely shade and it feels nice on. I wear this one the most out of all 3 I purchased.

The second lipstick is called Peri Blue. Its just as the name suggests, a periwinkle blue. This lipstick shade is unique, but not really something I would wear often. Paler girls and guys would love this one. The pigmentation is the same of melodrama and feels just as soft and creamy. If your lips are dry like mine, it can accentuate them so beware!

I do recommend wearing an invisible lip liner or even a lip primer for both of the lipsticks. I would not suggest wearing the gloss alone as its too thin and separates in the lip lines.

Overall its a very inexpensive line ($6-$8) and you can usually get these on sale if you pop in at the right time. Its a good line if you're not willing to commit to a higher price tag or looking to experiment with colours :)

Vintage and Antique Shopping Addict

Over the past couple of years I have become more aware of living in Toronto and the opportunities we get living in such a diverse city. One of the things I have discovered is vintage and antiques. There's just something about each item, be it a clothing or home decor, that has history. I have always loved history and the stories we hear, its nice to have something from the eras gone by. Before this, I was (and still am) into the Victorian Era and a lot of my clothing had elements from that time.

We all know things aren't made like they used to be. With the way things are constructed now, its all about how fast and how many items we can produce and sell... the more the better. Another thing that lead me into this world, more specifically the clothing, is how the silhouette fitted and complimented most body shapes. You can never go wrong with classic, well constructed pieces that you can wear years from now. Sure, embrace the trends of today but don't forget to pair it with timeless pieces to give you your own unique style!

If you love in a small town and are unable to reach any vintage shops thats ok. I find some of my best pieces on line. Etsy is my favourite place to find great stuff! I am hoping to show you some of my favourite pieces that i have collected in this town and on Etsy.

Emergency Kit!

I've always been one to bring extra everything in my bag, you know, for when those "just in case" moments happen. As always I used to get carried away and end up carrying more in my bag than I would ever need. Here's my little "emergency kit" that I think you would all appreciate.

Rosebud Salve or Petroleum jelly: Not only can you apply this to your lips, hands and elbows for added moisture but this is a great product to apply on the areas on your feet that rub against your shoe. This is especially helpful for girls who always wear heels and is a life saver, I promise.

Double Sided Tape: Is probably one of the most useful items for a woman's wardrobe. You know what I mean!

A Mini Sewing Kit: You probably won't need this in your bag everyday (depending on what you're wearing) but it is helpful when you're traveling!

Bandages and Polysporin: Self explanatory!

Mini Dental Flossers: I find these to be incredibly useful, more so than regular floss. Its easy to use and has a pick on the other side :)

Mini Mint Case: You just never know when you need it. Also if you're going to a formal event, its much nicer to pop these in your mouth rather than gum. Also, many mint cases for women come with a hidden mirror!

All of these things can go into a mini make up bag or even a Ziplock bag if your own purse is lacking space. If you would like to add anything else, please feel free! 'Til next time ;)

I recently got this necklace and I am loving it. I got this piece from Hautelook, which is a website offering many different brands with on sale items for a limited amount of time. Each day they offer different brand sales. It is just so dainty and girly enough for me, its also my first rose gold item :)

The Metal Collar

I saw this while passing by the H&M store the other day. I had to have it. I have been looking for a simple metal collar, but I have also really been into peter pan collars as they have a very retro feel to them. Only $14.99 CAD, not bad!

Also excuse my photos for now, I just got my computer back though I lost everything, and I don't have any photo editors installed so it might be awhile!
